If your response to a Christian's struggles is limited to acts like prayer, scripture reciting, & a list of how to do better, you'll fuel the cycle of shame & disconnection that keep them from deep healing.
Spiritual growth cannot occur when we rely on ourselves to get it right.
It's amazing how quickly shame surfaces in our bodies before we even know it's there, if we even do.

Trying to get another person to think, act, or live the way you think they should will never draw them close to you relationally, emotionally, spiritually. It damages relationship and the possibility for real connection.
Deeply grieved over divisiveness that keeps us from seeking God first and seeing others as part of God’s valued creation.
We are called to steward our lives and let God live through us. Instead, we’re letting others see the enemy remove us from life-giving connection.
Shame fuels disconnection within ourselves, with others, & with God. We try to break free from shame by telling ourselves positive mantras to override negative messages wired into our being. When it doesn't work, the shame cycle spins more. pic.twitter.com/d5e6qtC4Za
